India's Road Minister, Nitin Gadkari recently shared in an NDTV interview that a pilot project in Maharashtra's Nagpur involves a 132-seater bus with airplane-like seating and a "bus hostess".

The bus will operate on non-polluting energy sources and is expected to be cheaper than regular diesel buses. Gadkari also said the government is focused on promoting clean energy for transportation.

Interestingly, he strongly affirmed that India aims to transition from a net energy importer to a net energy exporter.

Tackling Pollution:

Gadkari states the government's measures to tackle pollution include promoting electric vehicles, ethanol pumps, and flex vehicles.

There's an increased focus on reducing public transportation costs and innovations in electric bus transportation.

He talked about waste management efforts, and plans for mountainous regions, and GPS-based tolling was also highlighted.

Gadkari emphasised his vision for a green revolution in agriculture and financial stability for infrastructure projects.
