Guwahati – The Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 concluded on Wednesday, with a record-breaking ₹4.91 lakh crore in investment proposals, nearly five times the amount secured in the 2018 edition.

The two-day summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw massive participation from industrialists, global delegates, and policymakers. Modi described Assam as a land of limitless opportunities, highlighting the state's economic growth, which has doubled to ₹6 lakh crore under BJP rule.

  • Total Investment Proposals: ₹4.91 lakh crore
  • MoUs Signed: 270 agreements worth ₹2.75 lakh crore across multiple sectors
  • Major Private Sector Commitments: ₹1.25 lakh crore from Reliance, Adani, Vedanta, Tata Group, Jindal, and others
  • Government Infrastructure Investments: ₹78,000 crore
  • District-Level Agreements: 1,921 agreements worth ₹5,851 crore

The Assam government strategically rejected impractical investment proposals and focused only on viable projects, a move praised by Goyal.

Nitin Gadkari’s ₹3 Lakh Crore Road and Transport Projects

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, in a virtual address, announced major transport infrastructure projects:

  • ₹80,000 crore projects to begin soon, including:
    • Brahmaputra river tunnel
    • Elevated corridor at Kaziranga National Park
    • Guwahati ring road
  • ₹3 lakh crore worth of projects to be completed by 2029
  • ₹60,000 crore worth of ongoing projects in Assam

Sarbananda Sonowal’s ₹4,800 Crore Waterways Boost

Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal outlined a ₹4,800 crore plan to enhance Assam’s waterways infrastructure over the next five years:

  • Ship repair facilities
  • Alternate roads for ports
  • Development of terminals
  • Centre of Excellence in Maritime Education (to train 5,000 skilled youths annually for the shipping industry)

Hardeep Singh Puri’s Push for Clean Energy

Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke about India’s ethanol blending initiative:

  • India has already achieved 19.6% ethanol blending with petrol
  • Plans to increase ethanol blending beyond 20%
  • All fossil fuel companies to achieve net-zero by 2045
