The politicians have already been throwing derogatory remarks in what looks like a vicious campaign and days before the assembly elections are due to be announced, former BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri seems to have added fuel to the fire with his comments on Delhi cm atishi, Atishi wept during a press briefing on Monday and cleared that the political discourse of the country has throttled at an all time low delivering those remarks.

On Sunday, the CM went on to the Rohini rally in which he stated “Marlena (Atishi) has changed her father. Earlier she was Marlena, now she has become Singh, That's their character”.

This was a day after he had made another sexist comment during the protest against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, ‘Lalu had claimed that Bihar would be a development zone for roads with the smoothness of Hema Malini's cheeks. Lalu has not kept that promise. But I assure you just like we constructed roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we shall make the roads of Kalkaji, and Indian and outer between Priyankas Gandhi's cheeks.’

From the Kalkaji seat, Congress has put to the contest Alka Lamba while BJP has selected Bidhuri who is a two term Lok Sabha MP from South Delhi and a three time legislator from the region, and Aam Aadi Party(AAP) has fielded Atishi as their candidate for the region.

At a press conference on Monday, Atishi broke down as she effusively praised her father and remarked that ‘Bidhuri ji I want to say that my father spent his entire life nurturing and developing the lives of underprivileged kids in delhi. He is now 80 years of age and in such poor health that he requires assistance. Is this how low may be you, will events promote me.? To insult the elderly? I could not ever envision this sort of deterioration of politics in this country,’ she said.

I don't mind the allegations that he has raised against my father but he should be aware that his record is being scrutinised as well,' said the Assistant Professor.

Bidhuri, like Bidhuri has been serving the South Delhi constituency for around two decades, including south karol bagh.

He had also garnered media attention after his derogatory comments during a debate on the welfare of the minorities in the House on 10 December 2023. These claims led to Bidhuri sending a notice to the BJP regarding the alleged statement he made during his altercation with a Czech Member of Parliament.

Delhi BJP leaders insisted the politicians do not indulge in ‘personal remarks’ the days the two statements were made. A day prior, in a press conference, the party’s spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor asserted that the politicians should respect personal life and avoid commenters focusing directly on the CM her parents, however, she did say that it is unacceptable for Marlena’s father to defend the Parliament attack’s convict Afzal Guru.

“Since Atishi Marlena has become the CM of Delhi all the residents are hoping for her to either condemn Bilawal Khalid supporting Afzal Guru or try to justify why her parents did so. But as an individual and elder we all respect Atishi Marlena’s father” said Kapoor.

Lieutenant Colonel Kushal Shastri, who is Delhi in-charge of the party, stated yesterday that “I am against the glorifying violence. While expressing this disapproval, respect for women, language propriety and decorum is our adoption. Sonia ramesh said would never tell women not to engage in active politics but women have inspired respect.”
