New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has expelled her nephew Akash Anand from the party, citing his influence under his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, as the primary reason. The decision was announced after an All-India BSP meeting on Sunday.

Akash Anand, who was once seen as Mayawati’s political heir, has now been removed from all party responsibilities, including his post as National Coordinator.

Why Was Akash Anand Expelled?

Mayawati took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm the decision and explain the reasons behind her nephew’s removal:

"Akash Anand was relieved of all responsibilities, including the role of National Coordinator, as he continued to remain under the influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, who was expelled from the party for prioritizing personal interests over the party’s welfare."

Mayawati had earlier removed Akash Anand from key party positions in May 2023, calling him “immature” after he made critical remarks about the BJP.
Despite expectations that Akash would show maturity and remorse, Mayawati stated that his response was "selfish, arrogant, and non-missionary."
His father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth, was previously expelled from BSP for putting personal interests above party welfare.

Mayawati Stresses Party Discipline & Ambedkarite Ideals

Mayawati made it clear that discipline and dedication to the Ambedkarite movement are non-negotiable in BSP.

“In the interest of the self-respect movement of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and following the discipline set by Kanshiram ji, Akash Anand, like his father-in-law, is being expelled from the party.”

She reaffirmed that BSP will not tolerate personal ambitions overshadowing party ideology.
She also warned other party members to remain focused on BSP’s core mission or face similar consequences.

What’s Next for BSP & Akash Anand?

Will Akash Anand form his own political faction?
How will this impact BSP’s strategy for upcoming elections?
Will Mayawati name a new political heir?

This political shake-up within BSP could have major implications as the party gears up for future elections. With Akash Anand’s removal, Mayawati has sent a strong message about party discipline and loyalty.
