New Delhi: In a landmark moment for Delhi’s new administration, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta held her first cabinet meeting on Thursday evening at the civil secretariat, setting the course for her government’s priorities. This significant event followed her swearing-in ceremony, marking a political shift in the national capital.
Key Decisions Taken in the First Cabinet Meeting
During the first cabinet meeting, CM Rekha Gupta and her council of ministers approved two major proposals:
Implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in Delhi
- The Delhi government will contribute ₹5 lakh, and the central government will add ₹5 lakh, providing ₹10 lakh total health coverage under the scheme.
- This initiative aims to provide comprehensive healthcare benefits to eligible residents of Delhi.
Tabling of 14 Pending CAG Reports in the Assembly
- The government will present 14 reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which were delayed under the previous administration.
- These reports will be discussed in the upcoming Assembly session, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Speaking to reporters, CM Gupta expressed her enthusiasm, saying:
“After today’s swearing-in, I have taken charge at the Chief Minister’s office, and a Cabinet meeting has been scheduled for this evening.”
Rekha Gupta Takes Oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister
Earlier in the day, Rekha Gupta, MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was officially sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister in a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi
- Union Ministers Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Rajnath Singh
- Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, who administered the oath

Following the ceremony, Gupta proceeded to the Delhi Secretariat to assume her new role, accompanied by BJP leaders Baijayant Panda (Delhi BJP in-charge) and Virendra Sachdeva (Delhi BJP president).
