Manmohan Singh Memorial: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding a place for the memorial of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Manmohan Singh, the father of economic reforms in India, died on Thursday. He breathed his last at the age of 92 in Delhi AIIMS and his funeral will take place on Saturday.

A letter written by party president Mallikarjun Kharge to PM Modi was posted from the official 'X' account of Congress, in which it was said that today Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, by talking to the Prime Minister and Home Minister over the phone and writing a letter, strongly requested on behalf of the Indian National Congress that the true tribute to the son of India, Sardar Manmohan Singh ji would be to perform his last rites and establish a memorial to him.

seven days of national mourning

The Union Home Ministry has announced a seven-day national mourning across the country on the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. During this period, the national flag will fly at half-mast across India. In a letter sent to the Chief Secretaries of all states and union territories, the Home Ministry also said that Manmohan Singh's funeral will be held with state honors and there will be no official entertainment programs during the national mourning.
