New Delhi: The stock market has fallen sharply after India's first HMPV case was reported in Bengaluru amid reports of the virus spreading in China. The Sensex fell 1150 points to 78065 points. The National Stock Exchange's Nifty also slipped below 24000 with a fall of 360 points to 23,633 points. Banking and energy stocks are witnessing a sharp decline. Midcap and smallcap stocks are also witnessing a sharp decline. India VIX, an index measuring market volatility, is trading with a decline of 13.37 percent.

I remembered Corona

As soon as the news came in the morning that the first case of HMPV has been reported in Bengaluru, Karnataka, there was a huge drop in the stock market. This virus was first found in China. In the HMPV case, market investors have been reminded of the Corona epidemic that came from China 5 years ago, after which there is a lot of restlessness and fear among the investors. BSE Sensex is trading at 23,610 points with a fall of 1200 points i.e. 1.51 percent and Nifty 50 is trading with a fall of about 400 points i.e. 1.62 percent.

This virus caused loss of crores

Investors have suffered huge losses in today's session after the HMPV case came to light in Karnataka. The market capitalization of BSE has declined by more than Rs 9 lakh crore. The market cap of shares listed on BSE has come down to Rs 440.74 lakh crore from Rs 449.78 lakh crore in the previous session. That is, the market capitalization has decreased by Rs 9.04 lakh crore.

Big fall in both these stocks

The biggest rise in the market is being seen in midcap and smallcap stocks. Nifty's midcap index is trading with a decline of 1103 points while the smallcap index is trading with a decline of 413 points i.e. 2.18%. Apart from this, banking stocks are also witnessing a huge decline and Nifty Bank is trading 1.66 percent down. FMCG, Energy Healthcare, FMCG and Oil & Gas stocks are also witnessing a sharp decline. Out of 30 Sensex stocks, 27 stocks are trading with a decline while out of 4132 stocks, 3262 stocks are trading with a decline and 743 stocks are trading with a gain.
