Elon Musk’s AI company X AI has released a web-application of the Grok chatbot, broadening the audience to include non X (formerly Twitter) users. The service has been made available at Grok.com and now, instead of an X account, users can sign in with their Google or email accounts. This is in addition to the recently announced Grok iOS app and the web version also acts as a browser to respond to questions, provide real time details and create images.

Grok has the objective to be a counterpart to ChatGPT by OpenAI and Gemini by Google for users present in diverse situations and requirements. New dimensions of exploration include application themes, a temporary mode that prevents saving data and using it to train the model. For AI tools in which social media is restricted or does not exist such as in schools and offices, Grok built a completely separate site that extends its reach beyond X Premium members.

Grok offers free plans, but Grok provides a free plan for the regular users but has some limitations. Users are allowed to create ten images per every two hours, analyse three images per day, and four generations of images per day . Despite these limitations, the chatbot supports multiple response options that include Auto, Visualise, and Search in order to satisfy any user needs.

What makes Grok different with other tools is the temporary mode, the mode is represented by a ghost symbol. Allowing this mode ensures that the contents of chat history are not saved permanently and are not used in AI model training except when they are needed for not more than 30 days for safety purposes. That product allows users to make some changes in order to enhance efficiency for example by turning on lightweight, dark or system themes among others. The same mediatic event reflects Musk’s stance about AI tools which should not be restricted to social networks only but everyone should be able to access them.
