New Delhi: Just hours after Manmohan Singh's death, on Thursday (26 December 2024), Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi made the former Prime Minister's death an issue of political allegations and counter-allegations and tried to make political gains. Priyanka Chaturvedi tweeted and alleged that the BJP government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to tarnish Manmohan Singh's image. She claimed that the words of condolence expressed by BJP leaders are for show.

Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "The cabinet led by the Prime Minister may have mourned the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh, but the acts and allegations made against him can never be forgotten. Allegations of tarnishing his image, shameful allegations." How far is it justified to impersonate a great person, assassinate his character and harass him. She further said, "Whatever they say tomorrow will be just hypocrisy. History will properly evaluate their conduct.
This cabinet led by the PM may have words to express their grief on the passing of Dr MMS but their words and action against him will never be forgotten- the vilification, the shameful charges, the character assassination and the hounding of a great man.

I have never seen such a weak PM
At the same time, in the year 2017, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray had said, "I don't think the country has ever seen such a weak Prime Minister."
