New Delhi: American company Ford Motor is going to enter India again. Ford had withdrawn its business from India in 2021 due to continuously declining sales, but now the company is preparing for a fresh comeback. There is a plan to reopen the Chennai plant, which will employ thousands of people. However, the company will not enter the Indian market directly, rather this plant will be operated through a third party.

Big export planning will be done from the Chennai plant

Ford's Chennai plant, which earlier exported vehicles to 37 countries, will now resume operations. According to the report, around 2 lakh vehicles and 3.40 lakh engines will be manufactured here every year, which will be sent to the international market. The company hopes that it will get more profit from exports than from sales in India.

Agreement with the Tamil Nadu Government

Ford Motor has recently signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the Tamil Nadu government. Under this, the company has promised to restart its manufacturing unit. Located in the Maraimalai area of Chennai, this plant is spread over about 350 acres.
