On the 8th of January, the Indian stock market saw trading values in the red, following a positive increase the day before. By 9:30 am, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 254.43 points, approximately equating to a 0.33% decrease, and being set to a value of 77,944.68 according to estimates.
In comparison, the NSE Nifty was valued at 23,642.20 while falling by 0.28% or 65.70 points.
Where Were the Major Drops Observed?
Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, only 7 were able to trade in the green. Zomato LTD saw the most significant drop, falling in price by 1.84%, which reflects a trading price of 247.85 INR. Following them was Adani Ports and Special zone which saw a trading price drop of 1.79%, valuing them at 1153.75 INR. Finally, titan Company LTD lost 1.12% of their trading price, selling for 3468.90 INR.
Which Industries Were Impacted The Most?
The Nifty Consumer Intermediates sector faced the most significant losses, equaling an estimated 2.20%, with a final target of 41,729.40. This was closely followed by a 1.42% loss incurred by the Nifty midsmall IT and telecom services. In a similar fashion, the Nifty financial Services Ex bank sector incurred a loss of 1.10%, bringing it down to 25,460.40.
How Did Investors React In The Last Trading Session?
In the previous trading session that took place on the 7th of January in 2025, the investors were able to sell a large portion of their stocks and shares during the green zone.
The Sensex ended the day up by 234.12 points or 0.30 percent at 78,199.11 and the Nifty gained 91.85 points or 0.39 percent at 23,707.90.
Everything stated above happened after the market seemed to have crashed the day before on January 6 of the year 2025 when the week started trading purely due to the Indian health ministry assuring that three cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) appeared in the country for the first time in history.
On that day at 11:55 am on the clock in India, the Sensex weakened by 1,131.53 points or 1.43 percent to reach up to 78,091.58 and the Nifty was down by 384.75 points which is 1.6 percent moving down to 23,620.00.
