New Delhi. Newly appointed minister Elon Musk's SpaceX company launched the Indian communication satellite GSAT-N2 from a Falcon 9 rocket at midnight on November 18. This satellite weighs 4700 kg. It has been built keeping in mind a 14-year mission. This satellite, installed from the Geo Stationary Transfer Orbit, will provide high-speed broadband internet connectivity as well as digital video and audio transmission.
Internet facility will be available.
GSAT-N2 has been designed in such a way that internet facilities will be available even during air travel. This is the first time that ISRO has sent its communication satellite into space with the help of an American businessman's company. Let us tell you that since 1990, GSAT-N2 has been the first ISRO spacecraft to be sent into space by an American launch vehicle. Before this, INSAT-1D was launched.
India was dependent on France.
GSAT-N2 will provide internet at the speed of 48Gpbs. It will provide communication services in remote areas of India including Andaman-Nicobar, Jammu-Kashmir, and Lakshadweep. Let us tell you that India's rockets are not capable of launching satellites heavier than 4 tons, so work was done in collaboration with Elon Musk's space agency. Till now India was dependent on France to launch heavy satellites.
