New Delhi: Gold jewelry without hallmarking is still being sold at many places in the country. Regarding this, the government announced on Thursday that now gold jewelry will not be sold without hallmarking in 18 more districts of different states. Let us tell you, since the implementation of the hallmarking rule on 23 June 2021, gold jewelry worth about 40 crores has been hallmarked so far. The government is implementing it in different parts of the country in different phases.

New rule applicable in these states

The Government of India is now implementing the rule of hallmarking of jewelry in different parts of the country to protect people from adulterated gold jewelry. However, this rule was made in the country on 23 June 2021 itself. But, it is being implemented in different districts in a different way. The government has announced its implementation in these 18 districts on Thursday. With this, there are now 361 such districts in the country, where jewelry and gold jewelry without hallmarking are not included.

1. Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana

2. Himachal Pradesh, Kerala and Odisha

3. Puducherry, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu

4. Are in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The number of registered jewelers increased.

The government is now working on the registration of jewelers in the country. This is the reason why the number of registered jewelers in the country has increased more than ever. Earlier the number of registered jewelers was only 34,647, now it has increased to 1,94,039. Apart from this, the number of hallmarking centers has also increased from 945 to 1,622.
