Lucknow: Amid the controversy over the statement of Home Minister Amit Shah on Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar in Sagar during the winter session of Parliament, the Yogi government has taken a big decision. Lucknow Development Authority Chairperson/Divisional Commissioner Dr. Roshan Jacob held a meeting with the officials of the authority and the memorial committee on Tuesday regarding the maintenance of monuments. Authority Vice President and Member Secretary of the Memorial Committee Prathamesh Kumar, Additional Secretary Gyanendra Verma and Joint Secretary Sushil Pratap Singh, among others, were present in this meeting.

The works reviewed

In this meeting, he reviewed the repair and beautification work being done at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal in Gomti Nagar, Manyavar Shri Kanshiram Smarak Sthal in Old Jail Road and Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal in Noida. It was learned that this year repair, lighting and beautification work has been done at a cost of about Rs 50 crore. Apart from this, other works are to be done at a cost of Rs 65 crore, for which funds have been approved.

In this meeting, Vice President of Lucknow Development Authority and Member Secretary of Memorial Committee Prathamesh Kumar informed that at a cost of about Rs 20 crore, work has been done on the statues of great men, elephant gallery, cracks in the beams of the stupa, sandstone and granite stones installed in the premises, repair of roads and lights, painting and polishing. Apart from this, cleaning of black spots on the walls of the main memorial, silicon coating and water proofing work at other places, along with repair of the musical fountain has been done and it has been made operational. There are many other works to be done here, for which a separate amount of Rs 33 crore is being sanctioned.

The work is about to be completed

He informed that similarly, repair and beautification work is being done at the Manyavar Shri Kanshiram Ji Memorial Site located on Old Jail Road at a cost of Rs 25 crore. In which the work of repairing the cracks and water leakage in the roof of the main dome is about to be completed. At the same time, the work of maintenance of lights, painting, polishing, silicone coating and waterproofing of the complex has also been completed. Apart from this, funds are being sanctioned for the proposed works at a cost of Rs 25 crore.

Received orders for onions

It was told in the meeting that the work of bedsheet, cleaning, painting and flooring etc. has been done at the National Dalit Prerna Sthal Green Garden at a cost of about three crore rupees. Apart from this, orders of more than 4 crore rupees have been received for other proposals. On these works, Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob directed that the old pending works should be completed as soon as possible. He said that the monuments should be inspected once again. So that repair and other necessary works can also be included in the proposal and work can be started.
