Paytm, a leading digital payments platform in India, is all set to enter the ride-hailing business with auto rickshaws through its integration with ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce). This decision comes after Paytm faced suspension by RBI and its deposits in wallets and FASTags were set to stop working after February 29. In order to continue providing convenient and efficient services to its users, Paytm has decided to venture into the ride-hailing sector.
The auto rickshaw booking feature is currently in its testing phase and there are plans for Paytm to also enter into cab bookings like Ola and Uber in the future. This feature can be found under the dedicated shopping section on the app and select users have already started seeing the auto rickshaw booking banner. Users can enter their pick-up and drop-off locations to book their rides seamlessly through the ONDC platform on Paytm.
This platform is backed by PAI platforms, previously known as Paytm Commerce, which is founded by Paytm's chief Vijay Shekhar Sharma. Apart from ride-hailing, Paytm also offers various other services such as food delivery, grocery shopping, fashion, and electronics through ONDC. With its foray into the ride-hailing sector, Paytm is further expanding its reach and providing a one-stop solution for various daily needs of its users.
