New Delhi: The proceedings of both the Houses today (17 December 2024) are important in the winter session of Parliament. 'One Nation, One Election' has been introduced in the Lok Sabha. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal introduced the 'One Nation, One Election' Bill in the Lok Sabha. The One Nation, One Election Bill has been discussed and voted to pass it. After the voting, this bill has been sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC).

Electronic voting in Lok Sabha for the first time 

For the first time, electronic voting has taken place in the Lok Sabha. The speaker said that 269 votes were cast in favour of the proposal and 198 against it. The majority is in favour of the proposal. After this, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal presented the bill in the House. After this, the proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned till 3 pm. A total of 369 members have cast their votes. After this, the opposition members raised objections. Home Minister Amit Shah said that if they have any objection, then tell by giving a slip. On this, the speaker said that we had already said that if any member feels so, then he can modify his vote through the slip also.

Speaker Om Birla said that the process will also be explained to you. Voting is taking place for the first time in the new Parliament, so there may be some problems in it. We will also allow amendments. The Secretary General will explain the entire system to you and will also tell you that if the wrong button is pressed by mistake, then you can correct your vote again with the slip. After this, the Secretary General of Lok Sabha explained the entire process to the members.
