Meerut: In a chilling crime, a merchant navy officer was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife and her lover, who then dismembered his body and sealed it inside a cement-filled drum, police said.
The victim, Saurabh Rajput (29), a resident of Brahmpuri’s Indira Nagar Phase 2, went missing on March 4, prompting an investigation. His remains have now been recovered, and the accused—his wife Muskan (27) and her lover Sahil (25)—have been arrested, police confirmed on Tuesday.
How the Murder Unfolded
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ayush Vikram Singh:
- Rajput was murdered on March 4, after which the accused chopped up his body, placed the remains inside a drum, and sealed it with cement to hide evidence.
- Muskan and Sahil were detained on suspicion, and during interrogation, they confessed to the crime.
- After the murder, Muskan attempted to mislead Rajput’s family by sending messages from his phone to create the illusion that he was alive.
- Shockingly, after committing the crime, Muskan and Sahil went on a vacation to a hill station, police revealed.
Family’s Reaction & Police Investigation
- Rajput’s family filed a missing person’s complaint, leading to an investigation.
- The remains have now been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered against the accused.
A Love Marriage That Ended in Tragedy
Rajput and Muskan had a love marriage in 2016, despite their families being against the relationship. The couple lived separately in a rented house in Indira Nagar Phase 1 with their three-year-old daughter.
The gruesome nature of the crime has left the community in shock, and the police are now conducting further investigations into the motive and planning behind the murder.
