
New Delhi: A suspicious attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany on Friday has created chaos. A car entered a Christmas market full of people and crushed dozens of people. According to media reports, 5 people died and more than 200 people were injured. Seven Indians are also among them.

After this incident, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement. It said, (India) condemns the horrific and senseless attack on the Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany.

The Ministry of External Affairs further said, many people have died and many have been injured in this accident. Our condolences and prayers are with the victims. Our mission is to stay in touch with the injured Indians and their families and provide them all possible assistance.

Know how the accident happened
Christmas is very near and preparations for Christmas are going on in full swing in many countries including Germany. People were shopping on Friday evening. At that time a black BMW entered the market at a high speed and started crushing whatever came in its way. Five people died in this accident and as the vehicle moved forward there was screaming and shouting on the road. The police took immediate action and arrested the accused.
Who is the accused
The name of the person who carried out the incident is being told as Taleb Al-Abdulmohsen. Taleb is a Saudi citizen, aged 50 years. He is a doctor by profession. The accused came to Germany from Saudi Arabia in 2006 and got refugee status in 2016.
