Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday hailed the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025 as “one of the rarest events of the century”, revealing that over 62 crore devotees have already participated in the grand spiritual gathering.

Speaking at the Unicorn Companies Conclave in Agra, Adityanath compared the global startup movement to the spiritual magnetism of the Kumbh Mela.

CM Yogi remarked:

“I can call it the Unicorn Maha Kumbh of the startup world. There is an immense attraction towards the Maha Kumbh at this time.”

Highlighting its spiritual and cultural significance, he emphasized that such a massive gathering of people in a specific period is unparalleled in history.

The Maha Kumbh has already witnessed unprecedented participation, with Mauni Amavasya alone attracting a record 8 crore devotees.

Paush Purnima (Jan 25): 1.7 crore devotees
January 30 & February 1: Over 2 crore devotees

Upcoming: The Maha Shivratri Snan is expected to push total attendance beyond 65 crore, setting global records for the largest religious gathering.

According to the UP government (citing Pew Research 2024):
55% of India’s population has participated in the Maha Kumbh 2025.
Over 50% of Sanatan Dharma followers worldwide have visited the sacred event.

Prominent Attendees:

Diplomats from 73 countries, including Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, have taken a holy dip at the Sangam.
Over 50 lakh devotees from Nepal have also participated.

Yogi Adityanath, who is also the Mahant of Gorakshapeeth, stressed that the Kumbh is a powerful medium to revive India’s ancient traditions and cultural heritage.

“It must have been envisioned that a time would come when people in India might feel disconnected from their traditions. The Kumbh serves as a crucial link to our spiritual roots.”
