The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially begun its 2025 board examinations, with over 42 lakh students appearing across 7,842 exam centres in India and 26 other countries.

This year, 24,12,072 students are taking the Class 10 exams, covering 84 subjects, while 17,88,165 students are appearing for the Class 12 exams, covering 120 subjects. The total number of candidates has increased by 3,14,695 students compared to 38.85 lakh students last year.

Exam Schedule and Entry Rules

  • Exam Timings: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM (Single shift).
  • Strict Entry Deadline: Students must arrive by 10:00 AM—late entry is not permitted.
  • Exit Rule: Students cannot leave the exam hall before 1:30 PM.
  • Dress Code:
    Regular students must wear school uniforms.
    Private candidates should wear light-coloured clothing.
  • Admit Card Requirements:
    Regular students must carry their admit cards and school ID.
    Private candidates need a government-issued photo ID.

Prohibited Items at Exam Centres

CBSE has enforced a strict ban on the following items inside exam centres:
Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, earphones, microphones
Wallets, handbags, goggles, and pouches

Security Measures at Exam Centres

CBSE has implemented CCTV surveillance across all examination centres to ensure fair and transparent exams.

  • Each exam room accommodates 24 students with two invigilators present.
  • CCTV footage will be monitored by assistant superintendents overseeing every 10 rooms.
  • Schools failing to provide CCTV footage upon request will be held accountable for malpractice.

CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh emphasized the board’s commitment to conducting secure and fair examinations:

"From model question papers to the secure transportation of actual question papers, every precaution has been taken to ensure smooth examinations," he stated, urging students to stay confident and perform without pressure.

CBSE has refined its verification process, allowing students to:
Request photocopies of answer sheets.
Apply for mark verification or re-evaluation, if needed.

Exam Conclusion and Result Updates

Class 10 board exams will conclude on March 18, 2025.
Class 12 board exams will end on April 4, 2025.
