New Delhi: Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passed away on Thursday, September 12. Yechury breathed his last at the age of 72. Let us tell you that Yechury was admitted to AIIMS-Delhi on August 19 after suffering from high fever. He has been undergoing treatment here for the last 25 days.

In a statement issued by CPI-M, it was said that Sitaram Yechury had a very serious infection in the respiratory tract. A team of doctors from Delhi-AIIMS was treating him. According to media reports, 72-year-old Yechury had recently undergone a cataract operation.
