Marseille, France: A blast rocked the Russian Consulate in Marseille on Monday, with Moscow labeling it a possible terrorist attack. The explosion occurred inside the consulate premises, prompting firefighters and security forces to rush to the scene, confirmed Russian Consul General Stanislav Oranskiy.

According to a statement issued to Russian state news agency TASS, three explosive devices were thrown into the consulate compound. One device detonated, causing property damage but no casualties.

Moscow Demands Investigation & Enhanced Security

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:

“The explosions on the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Marseille have all the hallmarks of a terrorist attack.”

She further stated that Moscow would demand a full investigation from Paris and urgent measures to strengthen security at Russian diplomatic missions in France.
