New Delhi: Responding to the discussion on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be implemented across the country in the next term of the Modi government. Shah said that if the BJP returns to power, the UCC will be introduced after extensive discussions with all stakeholders. During an interview, Amit Shah said that the next term of the Modi government will be important in many ways because during this time one country-one election will also be implemented. Shah said that now the time has come when elections should be held simultaneously across the country.
fifth largest economy
Home Minister Amit Shah said, the people of this country have shattered the pride of many dictators. They have worked in a democratic manner. Those who used to say that India will never be able to become economically self-reliant, have also been answered by the beauty of our people and the Constitution. Today we stand before the world as the fifth largest economy of the world. Targeting the Congress, Amit Shah said, Congress made 77 amendments in 55 years.
UCC a responsibility
Shah said, ‘Uniform Civil Code is a responsibility on us, which our constitution makers have left on us, on our Parliament and on the state assemblies. The guiding principles that the Constituent Assembly had set for us also include Uniform Civil Code. Even at that time, legal scholars like KM Munshi, Rajendra Babu, Ambedkar ji had said that in a secular country, there should not be laws based on religion. There should be Uniform Civil Code.’
A direct target on Rahul Gandhi
Attacking the Congress, Amit Shah said that they considered the party as a family property, but tried to make the Constitution a family property as well. They did not do any work according to the rules. A piece of land was given away, 35A was changed. Amit Shah said that the Constitution was waved in the air in the general elections. The Constitution is a faith and it should be respected. This is not an issue that should be waved in the air. The answer to this was found in the Lok Sabha, Haryana and Maharashtra. They used to roam around with a fake Constitution and the public has given them an answer.
