India’s security agencies are on high alert following reports of a potential threat from Bangladesh. According to sources, the Bangladesh government, under interim leader Mohammad Yunus, is allegedly collaborating with the extremist group Jamaat-e-Islami to destabilize India's internal security.

Concerns Over a New Organization ‘Bangladesh Janagan’

A report published by Jagran claims that a new organization, Bangladesh Janagan, has been established with the aim of spreading communal tension along the India-Bangladesh border. The report suggests that the group is planning a large gathering in the border areas, where thousands of people will participate. Allegedly, the event will also include mass cow slaughter and the distribution of beef, actions that could disrupt communal harmony in sensitive regions.

Security Measures Tightened

Following these security alerts, central intelligence agencies have informed the Border Security Force (BSF) and the West Bengal government. Authorities have stepped up security measures across affected areas to prevent any potential disruptions.

Possible Meeting Between Yunus and PM Modi at BIMSTEC Summit

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Mohammad Yunus, is set to participate in the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, from April 2-4. This raises the possibility of a face-to-face meeting between Yunus and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the event.

Although no formal meeting has been confirmed yet, Bangladeshi media outlet Prothom Alo quoted an official stating that both leaders might take advantage of the BIMSTEC platform to discuss bilateral issues.

Bangladesh to Assume BIMSTEC Chairmanship

At the upcoming summit, Bangladesh is set to take over as the next chair of BIMSTEC. This position allows Bangladesh to lead the organization and work on regional cooperation among member states.

Speaking about Bangladesh’s upcoming role, BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey told The Dhaka Tribune that this will be an opportunity for Bangladesh to strengthen its global presence and enhance collaboration with neighboring nations.

With tensions rising and security measures heightened, Indian authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
