New Delhi: Former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday (26 December) at the age of 92. He was suffering from age-related diseases. Regarding the death of the former PM, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi issued a press release, which said, "With great sadness we are informing about the death of former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh at the age of 92. He was brought to the Medical Emergency of AIIMS, New Delhi at 8:06 pm. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved and he was declared dead at 9:51 pm.

The mortal remains of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have reached his residence from AIIMS. The Government of India has canceled all the programs scheduled for December 27, 2024 and declared 7 days of national mourning. Dr. Manmohan Singh's funeral will be held with full state honors. From the President, Vice President and Prime Minister to many big leaders and personalities of the country have expressed grief over the demise of the former PM.

The last rites will be performed with state honors 

Dr Manmohan Singh's last rites will be performed with full state honours. His last rites are expected to take place on Saturday (December 28). Manmohan Singh was born in 1932 in Punjab. He was the Prime Minister of India for two consecutive terms from 2004 to 2014. He was first sworn in as PM in 2004 after Congress' victory against Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. He served his second term from 2009 to 2014. He was then replaced by PM Narendra Modi in 2014. He retired from Rajya Sabha earlier this year after serving for 33 years.
