According to the police, on Thursday, they filed an FIR related to the Indian currency, liquor, and OMR sheets that Singh was in possession of. Singh was detained in relation to the OMR sheets for Aryabhatt Knowledge University (AKU) and the NEET-PG entrance examination and currency worth 2.75 lakhs INR.
Singh’s room on the second floor at the Chanakya hostel, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) was set on fire and after the police got notified about it, wine bottles and other valuables alongside currency notes worth 2.75 lakh INR were recovered from Singh. He was interrogated and Singh was able to answer all the questions asked, revealing his lack of active involvement in the crime.
Singh completed his post graduation in the year of 2022 and is reported to have multiple rooms with one being on the sixth floor and the other on ground floor, which was allocated to another student. A student or him residing in those places and PMCH’s administration not keeping an eye over it raises many red flags. A caretaker named Anil had also stated that notices were issued to vacate the space but had not been acted upon.
Policemen observe that for avoiding the public eye, Singh might be operating an admission racket from the premises of PMCH. “It is quite possible that he is also dealing with the AKU exam authorities alongside others to allow students to pass internal examinations. Investigation is underway. It is shocking how a person who is not on students records in the institution is able to have control of three rooms,” he further stated.
In regard to the great amounts of cash along with examination related documents being found, the police constable remarked, “That also is an investigative concern”. “Cooperation of the college authorities will be imperative,” he said.
Mohammad Abdul Halim, the SHO at Pirbahor police station, reported that PMCH Principal Dr Vidyapati Choudhary made allegations against Singh and in light of said allegations copious amounts of near Singh were discovered during a raid, an FIR was finalized and filled. ” The burnt seizure were sent to FSL for forensic test to ascertain the details of the question papers,” He remarked.
