New Delhi: A big decision can be taken regarding the old pension. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the officials of the National Council of Staff today (24 August) on Saturday. In this, the long-standing demand for reinstatement and the issues of vacant posts in many government departments will be discussed.

Demand for restoration of old pension

In this regard, the Deputy Secretary of the Government of India (Praveen Jargar) has written a letter to the Council Secretary (Shiv Gopal Mishra) that all the officers of the Council should be present in the meeting so that the issues related to them can be discussed. This will be the first meeting of the Prime Minister with the representatives of the employees after the BJP came to power. Given the assembly elections to be held in some states, the government can take a big decision on other issues including old pension, before which this meeting has been called. Employees have been demanding the restoration of old pensions for a long time.

Employees unions have also been opposing the privatization of public enterprises. There are many vacancies in many government departments including railways, which employees have been demanding to be filled for a long time. In such a situation, this meeting directly with the PM is considered very important. Various issues related to employees are expected to be discussed in detail in the meeting. While presenting the general budget for the financial year 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also talked about pension reform. This meeting is considered very important.
