New Delhi – The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned Sam Pitroda for his recent false claims regarding an alleged hacking incident during his speech at IIT Ranchi. The Ministry clarified that there is no IIT in Ranchi, making his statement baseless and misleading.

Fact Check: No IIT in Ranchi

On February 22, 2025, Sam Pitroda posted a video on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, claiming that he was addressing hundreds of students at IIT Ranchi when the event was hacked and disrupted by objectionable content.

However, the Ministry of Education has debunked this claim, stating:

"There is no IIT in Ranchi. The statement made in the video is not only baseless but also reeks of ignorance."

The Ministry also pointed out that Ranchi has an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), not an IIT, and IIIT Ranchi has confirmed that Pitroda was never invited to speak at any of their events, either physically or virtually.

Attempt to Malign IIT’s Reputation?

The Ministry of Education criticized Pitroda’s statement, calling it a reckless attempt to tarnish the reputation of India’s prestigious IIT institutions.

"Such a reckless statement seems to be an attempt to malign the image of an extremely reputed institution. IITs have produced some of the brightest minds in the country and stand on the pillars of merit, hard work, and achievement."

The Ministry emphasized that IITs have earned their reputation through decades of academic excellence and will not tolerate misinformation aimed at discrediting these institutions.

Legal Repercussions for Spreading False Information

The Ministry of Education has warned that any such attempt to malign the reputation of IITs will face strict legal consequences.

"We condemn this statement and reiterate that any effort to defame our premier institutions will not go unpunished."

With this firm response, the Ministry has made it clear that spreading misinformation about India’s top educational institutions will not be taken lightly.
