New Delhi: The US Department of Defense has released its annual report on China's military power. This report has revealed quite shocking information, which is worrying not only for America but also for India. In fact, the US Department of Defense has said in the report "Military and Security Developments Related to the People's Republic of China" that China is rapidly increasing its stockpile of nuclear bombs. It has increased its stockpile of nuclear weapons by about three times as compared to 2020.
The US Defense Department said in its report released on Wednesday that by mid-2024, the number of China's nuclear bombs has crossed 600, while by the end of 2030, China will have more than 1000 nuclear bombs. Many of these are planned to be kept in final deployment mode.
China is focusing on military power
According to the Defense Department report, Beijing has become more intent than ever to achieve its goals. This is why in the past few years it has escalated tensions several times by eyeing other countries. It escalated tensions with the Philippines in the South China Sea this year. This year it also increased its diplomatic, political and military pressure against Taiwan.
The report also mentions rising corruption
This year's report also found that corruption within the People's Liberation Army has increased and that China is making efforts to reduce that corruption. China is also taking care to ensure that this corruption does not affect the PRC's ambitions.
