Lucknow: Noida Police has arrested a man from Delhi who had threatened to kill Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Weapons have also been recovered from his possession. In a video that went viral on social media, the accused was seen talking about the sacrifice of Yogi Adityanath. He also made remarks that incited communal sentiments. The accused has been identified as Sheikh Ataul son of Usman Ghani. He is originally from Bangladesh.

Settled in Malda district

At the same time, Sheikh has confessed that his family has crossed the border of Bangladesh and settled in Malda district of West Bengal. Later he came and started living in Shaheen Bagh, Delhi. A .315 bore pistol, live cartridges, a knife and objectionable documents (photos), mobile phone have been recovered from the possession of Sheikh Ataul, about 40 years old. Noida Sector 39 police have arrested Sheikh Ataul and started interrogation. Police are trying to find out whether he is involved in criminal activities and whether he was actually planning an attack on CM Yogi Adityanath. At present, he has told the police that he kept the weapon for his safety and to scare people.

During the initial interrogation, Sheikh said that someone had told him that he was demolishing all the mosques, so he had given provocative statements. Regarding a photo found with him, he said that he had kept this photo to show to the people of his religion. A case has been registered against Sheikh in Noida Sector 39 police station under various sections of BNS and IT Act. Noida Police said that a case was registered against an unknown person in Sector 39 police station by Social Media Cell Gautam Buddha Nagar.

In the video going viral on social media, objectionable, false and provocative things were being said about the public leader holding a constitutional post in the country, who is trusted by crores of Indian citizens. The accused tried to spread communal frenzy by making separatist and provocative comments. They hurt religious sentiments by saying things like eating meat in the open.
