A recent earthquake with a 6.8 magnitude that struck Tibet resulted in the loss of 126 lives according to reports from Chinese agency Xinhua, as cited by AFP. Apart from the immense loss of life, close to 200 individuals also sustained injuries with multiple houses being damaged leading roads to be scattered with bricks and mortar.
Twelve cars were crushed along with the debris that flew out due to the earthquake as evidenced in the video that was released by the broadcaster. It estimated the loss in the outskirts of China to be over 1000 homes and claimed the population to be sparse AP quoted Chinese broadcaster CCTV.
1. The National Centre of Seismology registered a probable intensity of 4.3 on the Richter scale for the earthquake that struck Tibet on Tuesday i. The earthquake struck the area around 5:52 p.m. according to NCS’s estimate. NCS estimates the earthquake's depth as 16 km.
2. According to AP, Xi Jinping, the President of China, ordered an all out effort to look for all residents, try and reduce loss of life, and help relocate individuals whose houses were destroyed. Over 3000 personnel were called in for the rescue operation, as reported by CCTV.
Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing was sent to the location to coordinate the activities and Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing was sent to the location to supervise the operations. In addition, a budget of 100 million yuan, equivalent to $136 billion was made publicly available. China refers to Tibet but Xizang and it is a part of the Himalayan region.
3. Video footage compiled by China’s Ministry of Emergency Management highlighted two individuals being supported on stretchers while other workers walked on the remnants of leveled homes which as a result served as a barricade. Emergency workers waded through piles of rubble in some of the destroyed homes, some sufficing with just ladders, as they searched for missing persons and residents according to an AP report.
4. Tibet is within the earthquake prone region. Last year, it recorded more than 100 quakes above the magnitude of 3.0. However, quakes 7.0 and above are considered to be rare and there have been a total of nine across the globe from the start of the 20th century as per reports by Reuters.

Relief materials were sent to Nepal and these materials included cotton tents, coats, high altitude jumping suits , folding beds,quilts and also 22000 other items, this was reported by the PTI as they estimated the Nepalese needed them, along with these over1500 rescue workers and local firefighters were also sent.

Nepal has been struck by a strong earthquake which forced individuals in kathmandu to step outside their homes in panic while in ensemble with shaking buildings, trees and electric wires, as for individuals in the Kavrepalanchwok, Sindhupalanchok Dhading and Solukhumbu districts were also forced to come outside which was followed by the severe quake.
7. After the earthquake around 150 aftershocks were recorded, amongst the nine severed hours alongside the being closed Mount Everest and its scenic area that rest on the China side, as reported by AP.
8. A clip featured water gushing out onto the streets as a woman claimed “This is a big earthquake, people are all shaking” while AP claimed it took place southwest of kathmandu near a temple supported courtyard.
9. 6900 individuals reside in 27 villages and 3 townships along the China region which August chinas earthquake base crossed, Koan stated. Furthermore, the region’s average altitude resting at up to 4200 meters confirms via the earthquake division in China.
10. As reported by reuters the Shigatse region of Tibetan which hosted 800000 people experienced the quake, Shigatse housed the city of panchen which has remained a central religious figure in the Tibetan region. In a video uploaded by Tibet fire and rescue the city Shigatse was on rubble.
