United States Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, strongly condemned Pakistan-sponsored terrorist attacks against India and highlighted the growing global threat posed by Islamist terrorism. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Gabbard emphasized that this persistent menace has not only destabilized India but has also created significant security challenges for the United States and many nations across the Middle East.

Condemnation of Islamist Terrorism

When asked about the Trump administration's stance on the repeated terror attacks from Pakistan on India, Gabbard made it clear that under President Trump’s leadership, there had been a strong and consistent commitment to eradicating Islamist terrorism. "This is a peril that endangers the very lives of the American people and devastates communities across the globe—from India and Bangladesh to the war-torn streets of Syria and Israel, and throughout the Middle East," she said.

Gabbard acknowledged that Prime Minister Modi and the Trump administration are united in their resolve to confront this growing threat. She noted that terrorism, driven by extremist ideologies, is not only a challenge for India but a global issue that requires collective action from nations, including the United States.

Strengthening US-India Security Cooperation

Gabbard’s remarks come amid growing efforts by the United States and India to enhance security cooperation and tackle cross-border terrorism together. On Monday, Gabbard met with India's Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, where they discussed strengthening the intelligence-sharing framework between the two countries. The discussions also focused on joint military exercises and how the India-US global strategic partnership could be expanded to tackle shared security concerns.

A defence deal was reportedly discussed during the meeting, reflecting a deeper commitment between the two countries to safeguard their interests in the face of rising global threats. In addition, Gabbard met with India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, on Sunday. The discussions revolved around improving bilateral cooperation on a range of security challenges, including terrorism and the risks posed by emerging technologies.

Broader Discussions on Security and Terrorism

The meetings also covered key issues related to security in the Indo-Pacific region, where both countries are focused on countering terrorist financing and addressing money laundering. Another important topic of discussion was extradition and immigration concerns, with India raising issues related to anti-India groups operating from other countries, including pro-Khalistan factions.

India has consistently raised concerns about the activities of such groups that threaten its sovereignty and national security. The partnership between the US and India has been crucial in addressing these issues through shared intelligence and coordinated efforts to combat global terrorism.

Strengthening Ties in the Fight Against Terrorism

Gabbard's visit to India and her meetings with key officials underscore the growing security ties between India and the United States. Both nations are united in their fight against terrorism, particularly from state-sponsored sources, and are focused on building stronger defense and intelligence-sharing mechanisms.

The discussions are expected to lead to more robust collaboration in the coming years, especially as both countries face similar security challenges from extremist groups. Gabbard’s remarks reflect the ongoing commitment of both the US and India to secure their borders, safeguard their people, and contribute to global peace and stability.
