Maharashtra Boy Suicide:  A boy allegedly committed suicide in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra after his father refused to buy him an expensive iPhone, police said on Wednesday. A police officer said that Sanjay Verma (18), a resident of the Kamothe area, allegedly committed suicide at his home late Monday night.

According to the father, the young man wanted an iPhone worth about Rs 1.5 lakh and when he bought a low-priced phone and gave it to him, he became sad. He said that at around 11:30 pm on July 8, Sanjay allegedly hanged himself.

Police registered a case

The official said a case of accidental death has been registered and the post-mortem report is awaited for further investigation.

Such a case also came to light last month

Last month, a similar case was reported from Maharashtra when a boy stole money to buy an iPhone. When his father scolded him for this, the boy committed suicide. Police said that the boy hanged himself from a tree near the railway tracks in Kalyan.

Money was stolen to buy an iPhone

Police had said that a 17-year-old boy in Kalyan allegedly committed suicide after he was scolded for stealing money from home to buy an iPhone. An official had said that the deceased was a resident of Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh and lived with his uncle in the Mira Road area here, where he completed his schooling.

This money was kept for my sister's marriage

Investigation revealed that the boy, who had recently passed his 12th examination with 45 percent marks, had gone to UP to meet his father and while returning he stole more than Rs 1 lakh, which his father had saved for the marriage of his elder daughter. He then bought an iPhone with that money.

The police officer said that when his father came to know about this, he scolded him and asked him to come back home. He said that the boy had decided to return home, but later he changed his mind and took this step. He said that further investigation is going on.
