New Delhi: On Thursday, Israel bombed the airport in Yemen's capital Sanaa. WHO chief Dr. Tedros was present at the airport during the attack and he narrowly escaped the bombing. He himself has revealed this in a social media post. The WHO chief had reached Yemen to negotiate for the release of UN employees held hostage by Houthi fighters.

Attack happened while boarding the plane

WHO chief Dr. Tedros said that he and his colleagues were about to board the plane when the airport was attacked. In which a member of his flight was injured and two people present at the airport were killed. Tedros said that he and his colleagues are safe, but they will have to wait till the airport is repaired to leave Sanaa.

condemned the attack

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the attack in Sana'a. Along with this, he has also talked about respecting international law. He said that civilians and people serving humanity should never be targeted.

He said air strikes on Sanaa International Airport, Red Sea ports and power plants in Yemen are extremely dangerous, Guterres lamented the recent tensions between Yemen and Israel.

Israel attacks Yemen

The Israeli Air Force attacked Houthi military bases in the West Bank and interior of Yemen. The IDF said on Thursday that these attacks were carried out with the approval of the Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Chief of General Staff. These attacks targeted Houthi military infrastructure, which they were using for their military activities.
