New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has blamed the head of the interim government of the country, Mohammad Yunus, for the atrocities being committed against minorities in Bangladesh and accused him of failing to protect the minorities. She addressed an event organized in New York through an online medium. Sheikh Hasina also claimed that like her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a conspiracy was hatched to kill her and her sister Sheikh Rehana.
Referring to the attack on his official residence in Dhaka on August 5, he said, "Armed protesters were sent towards Ganabhaban. If the security personnel had opened fire, many people would have lost their lives. I was forced to leave from there. I told them (security personnel) that no matter what happens, they should not open fire."
Muhammad Yunus was involved in the massacre.
At the event, Hasina said, "Today I am being accused of genocide. Actually, Yunus has been involved in the genocide in a planned manner. The main conspirators behind this genocide are the student coordinators and Yunus."
Hasina said the current ruling government in Dhaka has failed to protect minorities. Referring to the arrest of Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das, she said, "Hindus, Buddhists, Christians - no one has been spared. Eleven churches have been demolished, and temples and Buddhist places of worship have been destroyed. When Hindus protested, the ISKCON leader was arrested."
I didn't even get time to resign.
Hasina said, "Why is this oppression happening to minorities? Why are they being tortured and attacked?" She further said, "People no longer have the right to get justice, I did not even get time to resign." Hasina said that she had left Bangladesh in August to stop the violence, but it did not happen.
